As a bioinformatician, you’ll be working remotely with biotechnology experts and software engineers as they develop innovative products to optimize healthcare and beyond. You’ll be analyzing large sets of biological data to find patterns, make predictions, and uncover meaningful insights.
Design, develop and operate computational pipelines for sequencing data
Run sequencing data (such as FASTQ files) on the data pipeline
Analyze the output of the pipeline through various data analysis and statistical methods
Create relevant data visualizations (e.g. histograms)
Write Python scripts for analyzing, storing, and retrieving data from various sources
Collaborate with fellow bioinformaticians and software developers
Participate in daily syncs with the team
At least a Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (such as biology, computer science or mathematics)
Has previous work experience as a bioinformatician/data engineer/data scientist, or a similar role
Good understanding of concepts in Biology (microbiome, genomes, sequencing)
Good understanding of basic biological data formats and typical computational workflows
Experience with Python and various Python libraries for data analysis (Numpy, Scipy, Pandas, Scikit-learn and alike)
Proficiency in using Jupyter Notebook
Familiarity with databases, both relational and NoSQL
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Basic understanding of Git
Experience with AWS cloud (EC2, S3, ECR, Sagemaker, Batch) is a plus
Experience with Docker is a plus
